Help your child maximize their growth and independence
What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?
Pediatric OT is a form of therapy that addresses a child’s occupations i.e. activities that are required of them on a day to day basis. Depending on a child’s age, their occupations vary, for example an infant’s occupations are eating, playing, and sleeping. Toddler’s occupations include, getting dressed, pre-handwriting skills, self-feeding, using the toilet, playing, and peer negotiation. School age children’s occupations include, attention, handwriting, self regulation, and executive functioning skills.
As a pediatric OT my goal is to target the skills required to develop your child’s occupations, while promoting independence and confidence. Please see Services for a more detailed explanation of pediatric OT domains and skills addressed.

Depending on the age a child’s occupations vary; but some examples for an infant are eating, playing, and reaching particular developmental milestones. For preschool aged children activities include getting dressed, pre handwriting skills, self-feeding, using the bathroom, playing, and peer negotiation. For school age children activities include the above, and in addition handwriting, attention, and executive functioning skills. As a pediatric OT my goal is to target the goals important to your child and family to promote development, maximize their independence, and foster self confidence. I am considered an out of network provider and do not personally accept insurance. Upon receiving payment a monthly superbill is provided at the end of each month which you can submit for reimbursement from insurance once meeting your out of network deductible. Each insurance provider and plan is unique. Please contact yours prior to beginning the therapy process to understand your exact coverage.

If you are interested in submitting claims to your insurance provider for reimbursement, you will first need to ask your Pediatrician for a prescription stating “OT evaluation and treatment.” For 1:1 therapy if submitting to insurance, an OT prescription from your pediatrician stating “OT as needed for one year” is required. If you are not interested in working with your insurance provider, there is no need to obtain a prescription. Please contact me to schedule an initial evaluation.

Depending on your child and their needs and goals, I will determine what the appropriate setting is (home vs. school) after our initial phone call and history intake. If home is appropriate, I will come to you. If school is the most fitting setting, you will need to get clearance from the school and connect us so that we can schedule sessions at a time that works for everyone.

I am passionate about consulting with private preschools on strategies to apply in the classroom environment, support skill acquisition and helping kids reach developmental milestones, and address and troubleshoot any roadblocks impeding a child’s ability to participate and learn. To me, there is nothing more functional than me sitting on the floor in a classroom to really see what is going on and help teachers accomplish these goals!
